Wow! This guy is totally amazing on the guitar. He knows it with both his left and right hand better than most know it with one or the other! Good show!

From Kurt on the invitation: "A Tuesday evening a few nights after another one, but way too special to pass up!

I first came to know about John when he was in the band Solas, which was my gateway to Irish music. A friend suggested them to me and then not too long after I saw them playing on PBS. An incredible band with John's freight train (or whatever an appropriate Irish image would be) rhythm guitar playing.

Solas is still a great band, but John has moved on. He's made a couple of great duo recordings with fiddler Liz Carroll and in the last year he's made a beautiful recording with singer Karan Casey, another Solas alumna.

But John is also a great solo artist in own right, which we'll be seeing in the Front Hall... Check out the links at the bottom of the Wall for this event for links to his two solo recordings on Lala.com.
