Musician, composer, producer and A&M Records co-founder Herb Alpert is best known for his expertise in playing the trumpet, and as a trumpeter led his band The Tijuana Brass during the 1960s. On this single, however, he does a rare lead vocal, and it gave him a #1 hit on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in 1968. This Guy's In Love With You also went to #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart, and was also a hit in the UK, going to #3 on the UK Pop Charts. Through the years the song has been remade by various other artists, changing the gender in the lyrics when sung by female vocalists like Dionne Warwick.
